India Post Offices in Nagaland

India Post runs 429 offices in Nagaland, spread across the state’s 11 districts. Between them they cover 89 PIN codes and reach into 39 talukas, so even small hill settlements usually have a counter within reach. For a state with mountainous terrain and scattered villages, that coverage matters more than the raw count suggests.

The mix tells you how the network is built. There is a single head post office handling the heaviest mail and money work, 45 sub offices spread through the towns, and 383 branch offices doing the everyday job out in the villages. Branch offices make up nearly nine in ten of all the post offices in Nagaland, which is the postal department’s way of pushing service past the main roads and into rural Naga country.

District by district, the offices are fairly evenly shared. Mokokchung leads with 59 offices, making it the largest network in the state, followed closely by Dimapur with 52 and Tuensang at 50. Kohima, the capital district, holds 48, with Wokha and Zunheboto each on 47 and Phek a little behind at 41. There is no single dominant city here the way you see in bigger states, which is partly why coverage feels spread out rather than clustered.
